May in Photos

- Definitely the highlight of the month was our trip to Turkey. You can read all about it and see the pictures here.
- After the holiday it was straight back to work organising stock.
- I spent the bank holiday weekend with my family and got to spend some time in the garden (we don't have a garden in our place so it makes a nice change to get outside!)
- Initial sketches for a new illustration I'm working on inspired by the holiday (I'll share it here once its finished!)
- I finally got round to doing a new Wise Words post, this time inspired by Lady & the Tramp. You can view the finished version here.
- Beabea came to visit again and spent a lot of her time in her favourite spot looking out the window.

Wise Words: Stars

Its been a long time since I've shared a Wise Words illustration here!
Over the weekend Mum & I watched Lady and the Tramp, and I was inspired by some of the lyrics from the opening song, so opened up my sketchbook!

"Look at the skies, they have stars in their eyes."

Although I'm not going to be doing these weekly again, I do hope I'll manage to do them a bit more regularly from now on. And I'm going to try and remember to take a note of any quotes and lyrics that inspire me before I forget them!

In my sketchbook: 27/05/15

I spent the bank holiday weekend with my family, which gave me some time to get some drawing done, before that I hadn't done any since before my holiday and I had a few ideas I wanted to work on!
I've made a start on an illustration that was inspired by my holiday, but after drawing it in my sketchbook I decided I wanted to do a bigger, more detailed version. So I'll be continuing with that over the weekend and should be sharing it next week!
I've also drawn out, but not coloured yet, a quote illustration based on Lady & the Tramp, which me, Mum (& Beabea) watched over the weekend. I'm hoping to get that finished today or tomorrow so it should be ready to share very soon!
And finally, I've been drawing some owls for the start of a new commission for some cupcake accessories.

Life: A week in Turkey

Hello!
If you follow me on Social media you'll probably already know that I spent last week on holiday in Turkey.
This was our first holiday in 3 years, and only our second holiday together ever, so it had quite a lot of expectations to live up to!
Well, it definitely didn't disappoint, everything went exactly as we'd hoped (if not better), everywhere we went was beautiful and we had so much fun!
In one week we managed to squeeze in a full day boat trip and swimming in the sea, a day trip to Rhodes, a jeep safari, a water-fight, swimming in a fountain, walking on water, a swim in a natural thermal pool, water-slides, local shopping and lazy hours in the pool. Oh, and a LOT of Turkish Delight, ice cream and delicious local food (if you're ever in Rhodes we both highly recommend getting lunch at Island Lipsi, Jamie had a fantastic stone-baked pizza and I had the best pitta and hummus I have ever tasted!)

Here is just a tiny snippet of all the photos we took whilst we were away:

We stayed at the Grand Yazici Club Turban in Marmaris, which I would throughly recommend. Its a lovely hotel in a gorgeous setting, nestled in the trees, right on the coast with its own private beach, and we had not one complaint the whole time we were there!

As you can probably guess we weren't too pleased to have to leave, especially when we came home to this grey and miserable weather! But we had an amazing time and have so many good memories to hold on to.
